I deal with arcane technologies that most of the populace neither understands nor has any desire to.

I’m a modern day wizard.

Whatever you think of what we *should* do with our system, I don’t see how you can say that the status quo is sufficient.

Crazy Theory

1. Large companies crowd out smaller competitors in many core markets (food, clothing, etc)

2. Reduced discretionary spending means that necessary items (food, clothing, etc) aren’t impacted as directly as non-necessary items.

3. Economic decline combined with advances in process improvement allow companies to operate more efficiently, reducing excess spending - layoffs/firings occur.

4. Small companies, pushed to the fringe markets, cannot re-hire due to a combination of #1 and #2.

The U.S. spent $711 billion on military spending in 2008. We threw/are throwing an absolute fit about a ~$800 billion health care plan. Make sense?

Apparently there is a site on the internet solely dedicated to ranting about other people’s Tumblr profiles. Recently, Sara became popular enough in the Tumblr world to warrant her own thread. I’m always one to appreciate the random well thought out rant, so I was curious what I would find. Much to my dismay, not only were the comments superficial in nature - they were also anonymous! Call me “internet old fashioned”, but there’s nothing like anonymity to take the wind out of one’s opinion-sails (leaving you stuck in the doldrums of irrelevance!).

So, without further ado, my non-anonymous shortlist of reasons that Sara is my best friend, as well as my wife:

  • Intellect - she’s graduating Cum Laude ffs
  • Beautiful beyond belief
  • Amazingly open minded and kind
  • Ridiculously wise for her years about the things that truly matter
  • Wondrously creative
  • Surprisingly good at holding her liquor!
  • Socially outgoing - she helps me from being TOO reclusive
  • Geeky - she fosters her own geek interest while enjoying and supporting mine

Factors that enhance her awesomeness:

  • Low income childhood - welfare would be putting it mildly, we shot deer illegally for steak, chili and jerky (and I guess so they would stop eating our trees). They shot deer illegally so they could eat.
  • Seizure disorder - anyone who shares this (and their significant others) knows the impact this has.

So cheers to you Sarabear, you’re now an official internet celebrity - other people take time out of their day to try to bring you down.
